The 2014 U of H Leeds Special Impact Team
From May 17th-July 1st, Kaitlin and I are leading a small team of students on a short-term mission trip to Leeds, UK. We have a good friend there, Anna, who is the Baptist Chaplain at the Universities Chaplaincy in Leeds, which serves both the University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University. She also serves as an outreach minister at Blenheim Baptist Church, which is located fairly close to the university. Our team will partner with Anna's ministries to do various outreach projects at the University of Leeds which has about 38,000 students and a large concentration of international students.
Short-term mission trips are a very important component of college ministry. Given proper training, these short trips are great for encouraging and supporting the various ministries on the mission field. Furthermore, these trips give the students who participate a taste of missions work, sometimes even awakening students to a vocational calling to missions. Even if this is not the case, God moves in profound ways in the lives of students who attend these trips. One cool aspect of this trip is that we will be doing ministry on a college campus to college students at a University that somewhat resembles U of H in terms of size and demographic. In other words, our college students will be gaining experience in ministering to fellow college students- experience that they can take back and use at U of H!
We are so excited to join up with Anna and experience ministry in the UK, and we can't wait to see how God moves and uses our team to encourage and build up Anna's ministry! Please be praying for our team and our trip! We will be sending out periodic updates and prayer requests whilst on our trip. If you would like to be included on the list, please fill out the form here.
